Ajman Police seizes 70 beggars during the summer

Ajman police arrested 70 beggars (40 men and 30 women) of Arab and Asian nationalities during the past summer months, according to the Commander in Chief of Ajman Police Major General Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, who confirmed that the Department of Criminal Investigation and Investigations organized campaigns to combat begging.

He explained that controlling beggars is among the priorities of the police in Ajman, where the leadership takes the initiative to coordinate and take possible measures and ways to combat begging in the emirate, because of its negative effects of insulting the bright civilized face of the state, and stealing people's money unlawfully.

Al-Naimi stressed that begging is a negative phenomenon that affects the cultural appearance of societies, as this phenomenon often spreads during occasions, noting that beggars are exploiting the emotions of members of society, and they practice this phenomenon because they know that the Emirates community is a compassionate and giving society.

He added that the Ajman police are continuing to combat this uncivilized phenomenon, pointing out that some beggars are taking advantage of society’s giving and committing crimes. He stressed that the Ajman police have not wavered over the past years in organizing campaigns to combat begging, and campaigns were organized this year with the aim of joining forces with all citizens, residents and various bodies of institutions in the emirate to reduce beggars.

He reported that a plan had been prepared and organized to make beggars successful by intensifying security presence, educational awareness, and setting up a work program that includes the formation of a screening team to monitor and track beggars, and tightening control at sites targeted by beggars, such as commercial markets, residential neighborhoods, mosques, and banks and banking sites.

Al-Naimi called on community members to be vigilant and wary of these beggars, and not to sympathize with them, and to make their donations to charities, which carry out fair distribution to the poor and needy cases, calling for quickly reporting these cases to control them.
