H. E. Lt. Col. Saif Abdullah Al Falasi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department at Ajman Police, stated that the roads of the Emirate of Ajman witnessed a remarkable decrease in the number of serious accidents with a decrease of 80%, and the percentage of run over accidents decreased by 100%. This is since the national disinfection decision came into effect at the state level from 8 pm to 6 am the following day, compared to the same period specified before the disinfection period that began on March, 26 2020 AD.
H. E. added that the decrease also appeared in the number of accident injuries, which decreased by 60% and a decrease in traffic violations by 50% compared to the same period specified before the national disinfection period.
The Director of Traffic and Patrols Department explained that the reason for this decrease is due to the commitment of the citizens and residents of the Emirate to stay in their homes and not to go out except for the extreme necessity, noting that restricting the traffic movement for vehicles and the public, the spread of traffic patrols, the freeing of roads from pedestrians and the launch of the "Stay at Home" initiative had a positive impact in promoting community safety and security, praising the cooperation of all members of the community with the concerned authorities and the national disinfection teams, and the commitment of the residents by 98% to stay at the homes during the implementation of the National Disinfection Campaign.
Lt. Col. Saif Al Falasi also stressed that this cooperation indicates the awareness of the community members on the importance of concerted efforts and cooperation with the government in the face of the spread of Coronavirus and taking precautionary measures to protect the health and safety of community members, wishing the safety of everyone
