Ajman Police arrests a phone fraud gang of 15 people
Ajman Police managed to arrest a gang of Asian nationality consisting of fifteen people,
who defrauded other people by requesting to update their bank details or official
documents by impersonating official figures with the intention of trapping them and seizing
their money.
Regarding the details of the case, Colonel Ahmed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director of the
Criminal Investigation Department at Ajman Police, stated that information and reports
were received about people defrauding other people by calling from phone cards registered
with forged data and documents, and requesting to update their bank details or update
personal documents such as an ID card by impersonating an official, in order to exploit
this data to seize money.
Accordingly, the detectives from Ajman Police worked on searching and investigating to
arrest the gang, and by taking all necessary legal measures, 15 people were arrested, all of
Asian nationality, and 19 mobile phones used in the fraud were seized. When asked about
the incident, they admitted to defrauding people, so they were detained until legal
procedures against them are completed.
The Director of the Criminal Investigation and Investigation Department at Ajman Police
praised the efficiency and experience of the detectives and criminal investigations and their
efforts that enabled them to arrest the accused, calling on the public not to believe such
calls and not to hesitate to report them. He explained that fraudsters make them believe
that their accounts or bank cards have been blocked or frozen in order to seize their
money, and that banks do not request updating bank data over the phone, calling on bank
customers not to be deceived by these fake calls and messages and to go to the nearest
bank branch and update the data only through customer service employees at the bank’s
headquarters, warning of the danger of providing anyone with any data or bank account
numbers that they request, stressing that Ajman Police will be on the lookout and will deal
firmly with anyone who thinks of tampering with the security of the homeland and the
safety of citizens and residents.
