Ajman Police enhances traffic awareness by launching the Pedestrian Safety campaign

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance traffic awareness among road users about the importance of adhering to traffic rules and giving priority to pedestrians crossing in designated places, the General Command of Ajman Police, represented by the Traffic and Patrols Department, launched the "Pedestrian Safety" sub-campaign to preserve their safety and the safety of others. The campaign was launched at the beginning of January and will continue for three months. Lieutenant Colonel Rashid Khalifa Bin Hindi, Deputy Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Ajman Police, said that the campaign aims to enhance the safety and security of road users and reduce run-over accidents that road users and pedestrians are exposed to, by educating drivers and road users about the importance of following traffic instructions for pedestrian crossings, paying attention and focusing while driving, respecting pedestrian crossing lines, and adhering to the speed limits set within cities or on external streets so that they can control the vehicle, pay attention to road surprises, and avoid run-over accidents. The campaign also aims to raise awareness among pedestrians about the need to cross safely from designated areas, and to use pedestrian lines, crossings and bridges designated for this purpose, to avoid serious run-over accidents and maintain everyone's safety. The Deputy Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department pointed out that the campaign seeks to educate drivers about avoiding the causes of run-over accidents, the most important of which are excessive speed, distraction from the road, inattention and crossing from places not designated for pedestrian crossings, stressing the importance of taking care of the elderly and children while crossing the road, and that their safety is a shared responsibility that falls on everyone.
