Ajman Police Launches "Beware of Running a Red Light" Sub-Campaign to Enhance Traffic Safety

The Ajman Police General Command, represented by the Traffic and Patrols Department, launched the "Beware of Running a Red Light" sub-campaign as part of its annual plan to enhance traffic safety and reduce accidents resulting from violations of traffic laws, particularly those related to running a red light. Lieutenant Colonel Fouad Yousef Al Khaja, Head of the Traffic and Patrols Department, explained that the campaign comes within the framework of Ajman Police's ongoing efforts to raise awareness among drivers about the dangers of running red lights, which can lead to serious accidents that threaten lives and endanger the property of others. He added that running a red light is one of the most serious traffic violations, and therefore awareness efforts are being intensified in conjunction with field inspections. He emphasized the importance of strict adherence to traffic rules to ensure everyone's safety. He noted that the campaign aims to educate drivers through various media outlets, direct field communication, and the dissemination of awareness messages via smart screens and Ajman Police social media platforms. Lieutenant Colonel Fouad Yousef Al Khaja stressed that Ajman Police will not be lenient with violators and will take deterrent legal action against anyone who endangers their lives or the lives of others. He explained that the penalty for running a red light for light vehicles is AED 1,000, 12 black points, and the vehicle will be impounded for 30 days. For heavy vehicles, the fine is AED 3,000, in addition to a one-year license suspension starting from the date of revocation. The fine for motorcycles is AED 1,000 and 12 black points, in accordance with the Federal Traffic Law. The Head of the Traffic and Patrols Department called on all drivers to adhere to traffic lights, adhere to speed limits, and exercise caution while driving, wishing everyone safety on the roads.
